Wuthering Heights: Not A Review

So, I just wrapped up reading "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Brontë, and believe me it's worth reading.

On 10th of Sept 2020 , I started reading this book with my friend. I was so so so enthusiastic that I even told one of my friends that I'll be completing this book in just two days. But, Damn!! It took me freakin' 9 days to complete it.

I still remember the first time when I started reading it, I read around 30 pages in a go but hardly understood a single sentence and reading the book initially was really tiresome cos I was constantly searching meanings of different words so so so frequently [This is my only novel so far that actually contains pencil work ]. I was so frustrated the first day, that I even told my friend that I won't be able to read it any further. Second day, I even took a break from this book , and read another classic " The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka.

Third day, I finally made up my mind to give it a try once again. I started with the very beginning once again. My mother was already acquainted with it's story; so she helped me initially. And after I guess 4/5 chapters, when the actual story started, I started to develop fondness with the story. I even made a family tree to under the characters and there relationships. I used to sit with a dictionary by my side and I was fully dedicated to read it further.

Right from that day till I guess 7/8th day, I was constantly having nightmares. Although, this book is Gothic themed but I feel it's more psychological. The intense emotions of its characters are worth reading and that actually affected my mind and of course the result was those constant nightmares.

About the characters of this book - Beware!! You are hardly gonna find any normal person in the heap of mad creatures. But, there are actually 2/3 characters that are worth sympathising and it's not the protagonist for sure!!

So, finally it's the very last day, that is 18 th of Sept 2020; and I am done with the book and I do recommend it. But, If you are not a classic reader, this book should never be your first pick but if you have enjoyed classic earlier, then It's a must read.

Have a nyc read 🌟
